Garmin notice
Last updated: May 2026 (draft)
Kip26 lets you connect a Garmin Connect account so the coach can read your runs. This page explains how that works and the relationship — or rather, the lack of relationship — between Kip26 and Garmin Ltd.
How the connection works
During the beta, the Garmin integration uses the credentials you supply to fetch activity data on your behalf from Garmin Connect. We encrypt those credentials at rest with AES-256-GCM and never expose them in our UI or logs. You can disconnect at any time from Settings, which removes the credential row from our database.
TODO before public launch: migrate to Garmin's official Health API or Wellness API so we no longer hold user passwords. The unofficial flow is fine for closed beta with informed users but is not a long-term posture. Legal should weigh in before any public launch.
What we read
- Activities (runs primarily; cycling and other sports if present, but not first-class).
- Workout-level metrics: distance, duration, pace, heart rate, laps.
- Activity timestamps to link them against planned workouts.
We do not push anything back to Garmin Connect.
Trademarks
Garmin® and Garmin Connect® are registered trademarks of Garmin Ltd. or its subsidiaries. Kip26 is an independent service, is not affiliated with or endorsed by Garmin, and any Garmin trademarks used here are used solely to describe interoperability.
Your control
You can disconnect Garmin at any time from the Kip26 Settings page, or by changing your Garmin password (which will invalidate the stored credential on the next sync attempt).
